FAITH PERSPECTIVES
PRAYER THAT HEALS
Sandra Skinner Young
Founder/CEO of A.C.A.C.I.A., LLC Consulting Ministries
We receive much information in magazines and multimedia about modalities for effective healings which range from exercises and high-tech machinery to herbs and meditation. Stories of different healings at Christian Conferences or even creative miracles are told. Most of us have prayed at some time for ourselves or another to be healed. Was the prayer answered? These experiences can rattle our faith. Our time together will focus upon the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical healing which occurs when a human being connects with the Holy Spirit to discover the roots of repeated problems in their lives. The awareness can flow into the healing process which often results in total healing of that area of the person’s life.
HOW DO WE FORGIVE THE UNFORGIVABLE?
Josh Stumbo
Senior Manager for DISH Network, Former Licensed Domestic Violence Counselor
Do you take great delight in seeing a reckless, speeding car pulled over a just few miles ahead? I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t mind witnessing justice served to those that have wronged me. What if the atrocity warrants a penalty much greater than a traffic citation? What if justice never comes to those that have inflicted a much deeper pain? In this workshop, we will examine the imprisonment that often comes when we are unable to forgive. We will explore what forgiveness is and what it is not. We will review techniques to help break these bonds and find the freedom to move forward through even the most difficult circumstances. Not only will we discuss techniques to help us forgive others, but we will also investigate often the most challenging area of forgiveness, forgiving ourselves.
BELIEVING IN GODS GOODNESS WHEN LIFE IS HARD
Mark Morton
Fatherhood Director – Life Services
Life is hard, then you die. A razor-sharp mantra that is so close to home it sounds cliché and true. But, if I do all the things on my faith checklist, I should get the result I desire. Right? Is it possible to prepare for the future without knowing what it will be? Hey, I do have my magic eight ball! Maybe it is time to drop the mantra, lose the checklist, and yes, leave behind your magic eight ball. Instead let’s have a conversation about breaking through hard times, staying true to who we are, and believing in God’s truth when times are hard.

TOXIC RELATIONSHIPS: MOVING BEYOND SURVIVAL
Kim Heidinger
Former Recovery Counselor at Union Gospel Mission-Anna Ogden Hall
Toxic relationships can be stifling to one's personal growth. From what happens in the brain to how we respond to others, interrelationships can be complex with multiple factors involved. Oftentimes people get stuck in relationships they don’t know how to navigate. What determines if a relationship is toxic vs. abusive? How do we change course when conversations are constantly harmful? In this session, we will identify toxic behavior and explore strategies that will stimulate healing and wholeness. In order to move beyond the survival mode of habitual behavior, we must create new patterns of interaction that require vulnerability, willingness, and desire for change. We will explore possible solutions; de-escalate conflict, articulate feelings, and avoid dysfunctional interactions that promote damaging long-term self-esteem.
